On Saturday, Sept. 16, we headed out on our fall ride to Lacrosse.
We started out meeting at the 5 & Diner in Sun Prairie for breakfast.
Then we had a very windy ride on back roads throughout the bottom third
of the state to the
Prairie du Chien. We then had lunch at a
Casino on the other side of the Mississippi River and partook in some gambling as well.
After everyone but Jerry lost money, we headed north along the Wisconsin
side of the river toward Lacrosse where we checked into a Hampton Inn
for the evening. Great beds! We had dinner at Outback which
was right next door then called it a night. It was a great day of
riding.

On Sunday morning we all expected to be riding back in
the rain, but instead were treated to a pretty fine day. We caught
up with the sunshine after about a half hour in the saddle and rode just
ahead of the clouds the rest of the day. It turned out to be a
fantastic day of riding with very little wind and temps in the upper
70's. The route we rode took us through Sparta, Elroy, Reedsburg
and Baraboo, across the Wisconsin River on the Merrimac Ferry and on
down 113 to Waunakee. Great roads and fabulous scenery! |
